Purpose of Operation Pretty in Pink: To provide clothing for women and young women entering the workforce, school, participating in formal events and much more. As a service to our communities, the Ladies of Beta Phi Omega Sorority Inc. will partner with various retailers and utilize our own resources to make a difference in the lives of young women who do not have the means to provide these items for themselves in time of need. We believe that through looking the part, a person feels the part thereby allowing the person to reach their full potential and realize their self worth. By doing our part, we are assisting these women in achieving their dreams.
The Operation of Pretty in Pink: At least three times during the year, Beta Phi Omega Sorority Inc. will provide clothing (better/formal dresses, suites shoes and accessories) to LGBT and friends in need. Each Chapter/Section will be required to adopt Operation Pretty in Pink as one of their Volunteer Projects. The Chapter/Section will donate varied items throughout the year with emphasis on Homecoming, Prom, Graduation events for LGBT youth. Chapter/Sections will commit to collecting donations of women/misses clothing in good/clean condition and donating to the donation facility approved by the National Volunteer Committee. The National Volunteer Committee will research donation facilities/groups in the Chapter/Section’s area and nationwide and make that information public via the national website. While OPIP is not segregated to LGBT youth and adults, our focus is to provide needed items for our community.
We will solicit donations from dress stores and boutiques by circulating OPIP literature. We will recognize our supporters on our national website including their address, phone number and a small thank you for their support. Sorors are also encouraged to donate their formal dresses and other gently used clothing. The National Volunteer Committee will campaign for these items during the year. The committee will raffle baskets and giveaways to rally support from the members of Beta Phi Omega Sorority Inc. A prime rally with be during Beta Balls. The committee will ensure that a booth is set up at each Beta Ball to collect dresses and formal attire from interests and members wishing to donate. This is a prime time to donate in person and qualify for a raffle ticket/giveaway and eliminate shipping.
The National Volunteer Committee will have a section on the National Website to showcase OPIP efforts. This section will showcase supporters of OPIP, thank you notes from the young ladies that OPIP assisted, photos of OPIP recipients, info on how to donate to OPIP, as well as a link to email OPIP for assistance.-Our vision is to have a closet like reel that website visitors would be able to click on to view the dresses/formal attire pictures available. OPIP will evaluate the needs of schools, organizations, and individuals and based on our evaluation will contact the school, organization, and/or individuals with confirmation of assistance. If there is a need in the same area as a Chapter/Section, OPIP will see that the Chapter/Section receives the donation along with the necessary forms.
